STATEMENT
Prompted by transient moments in personal photographs, I paint intimate fragments that conjure feelings of remembering, displacement and introspection. Opting for the slow-looking afforded by a painting practice, my recent works capture something of the fleeting, intangible nature of memory.
With continued interest in ideas surrounding memory and time in relation to belonging and the lived experience, I explore the subtle, preverbal sensations that relate to broader narratives of identity. Through layered textures and subtly interjecting elements in my compositions, figuration is disrupted, creating odd planes to be experienced individually, privately and sensitively.
